The start of the new school year is always an exciting time in the halls of MHS. This fall found the band students even more excited than usual as they got to try on and wear their new marching uniforms for the first time. The uniforms look very professional and definitely an improvement over the old ones. The band students would like to thank all of the alumni members who donated so generously to the band uniform fund. Without your support and help, the uniforms couldn’t have been purchased so quickly.

The 2007-2008 school year started out with several “new” items on hand. The first was the arrival of Mr. Dave Schley, who will take over the reins and serve as our new superintendent of schools. The next was the addition of a 14-member dance squad to entertain the crowd at volleyball, football, and basketball games. The graduating class of 2007 donated new banners, which hang in the MHS gym, and a new logo that has been painted at the south double doors of the gym.

The second half of the 05-06 school year was a busy one at MHS. As usual, sports took a top precedence with several competitors going to state competitions. Sophomore Sam Frazier captured third place at the Class B-4 district wrestling tournament to be a state qualifier. Alyssa Cook took first place at the GNAC swim meet in the diving portion and was a state qualifier. Matt Hall also qualified for state diving at that event and broke the school record for 11 dives with a mark of 330.00. This beat the previous record held by Rick Filon ‘03 by almost 10 points.
