The Hormel Family Foundation has announced that its second annual business plan competition will take place on June 6, 2008, at the Hormel Business & Technology Center on the McCook Community College campus.
“The success of last year’s competition, our very first ever, set the stage for what we believe will become a wave of interesting and innovative business development in the greater McCook region,” said project initiator and Hormel Family Foundation board member Ben Hormel Harris.

When the Hormel Family Foundation kicked off its first annual Hormel Business Plan Competition on June 15th, it was three Bison graduates who walked away with the victory.
Cody Dame ‘01 and Tanner Lytle ’04and Ciprian Galarneau ’04 managed to wow a judges’ panel of local business and community leaders with their proposal to create McCook’s first gaming store: GAME ON.

McCook seventh grader Amberette Burkey knows that McCook has a house designed by the world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. And she knows that Nebraska’s senator, Ben Nelson, grew up in McCook and that Nelson’s boyhood home sits between the Frank Lloyd Wright house and her own home on Norris Avenue.

Three major projects that benefit the athletes and fans at MHS have recently been finished due to the generous donations of many alumni and businesses. With the encouragement of activities director, Rick Haney 80, these volunteers have given freely of their time, their expertise, and their money to improve the facilities of McCook schools.
